Given the long partnership between the composer and director, it would be so hard to choose a favorite Bernard Herrmann/ Alfred Hitchcock score--just as hard as choosing a favorite Hitchcock/Herrmann movie--especially when it comes down to Vertigo, Psycho, and North By Northwest. They're all so different. But none is more thrilling, none makes you feel more like bouncing around the room (or scampering over the faces on Mt. Rushmore) than this one--strings churning away, with that falling horn figure and the timpani pounding way down below. One thing it shares with the other two films...
